High School Science Research at the BCCE!

Hi. If you're at the BCCE and considering talks for Thursday morning, please consider coming to my talk at 10:15 in MAK A1117 (Erin Wasserman). I will be talking generally about high school enrichment programs with a big focus on the practical side of how to set up and run a science research program. You'd be surprised at how an authentic research experience can imapct a young kid! I have video, interviews with mentors and past students, pictures, curriculum breakdown, and literature reviews. I hope to see you there.

Hi Erin,

I wish I was at BCCE and could attend your talk but unfortunatlely I could not go this year. I am very interested in starting a high school chemistry research course and would love to see your presentation. It would be great if you could share them with me after your presentation.

At the BCCE, I made a presentation describing the Advanced Chemical Research program at Laguna Beach High School.  My program is a full-year class in which HS seniors pursue original research projects in teams.  Thus far, we have published two papers (featuring 18 student authors) in peer-reviewed journals.  Our biggest accomplishment has been the development of a polymer-based antivenom that neutralizes cobra toxins.  For more information, visit my website: http://www.lbusd.org/Page/416
