This activity is intended for Chemistry Teachers who plan to discuss the energetics of phase changes.

Heating and cooling curves are important visuals for chemistry students to understand when they are studying phase changes and thermal energy.

Thermochemistry is an interesting unit to discuss with chemistry teachers, as the depth at which different teachers cover it seems to vary widely. Some teachers cover the topic in much greater depth than I do.

In an effort to better understand my high school students' knowledge of what is happening during phase changes, heating curve calculations, and the ever popular can crush demo, I run them through a series of activities.
