The August AP Teach session focused on beginning a new school year with a review of student performance on the 2025 AP Chemistry exam. Jennifer Cambre shared ideas for how to interpret and analyze the data from the Instructional Planning Reports. Teachers can look at their results from the previous year with the goal of finding ways to help students improve both their understanding of chemistry and their AP exam scores. Michael Farabaugh provided a resource that served as a preview of the 2025 Chief Reader Report. When students are asked to give an explanation on the AP Exam, it is important for them to do more than simply restate the prompt. If students read each free-response question carefully, they are more likely to focus on the important details required for them to earn points for their responses. Teachers were encouraged to look at the variety of student mistakes and misconceptions that were observed at the AP Reading. In breakout room discussions, teachers shared ideas for how to help students avoid such mistakes as they begin their journey toward the AP Exam in May.
