Gamifying Chemistry - Online Professional Development

The Center for Teaching and Learning at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy now offers a variety of online professional development opportunities. Among the current selection, there is a chemistry offering titled Gamifying Chemistry.

In this Learning Experience, educators will explore the use of common games as a tool for an inquiry-based approach to introducing topics in general chemistry such as atomic structure and periodic trends. Relevant lesson plan materials, including templates for both in-person and remote learning, are provided. Cost: $50.00

Time Required: Up to 3 hours (This allows for a period of reflection and testing out the 2 presented activities.)

Continuing Professional Development Unit (CPDU): 3 hours
