This self-paced online professional development opportunity features two inquiry-based learning experiences that use familiar and easy to find materials, making these activities suitable for in-person or remote learning.
In this learning experience, educators will look at how inquiry-based lessons can be used as a tool for integrating content across multiple disciplines by working through two activities that engage students in real-world applications of solution concentration and gas laws. Relevant lesson plan materials are included. The full description as well as all of the online professional development offerings from the Center for Teaching and Learning at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy can be found on the educator development website page. Those interested can also access the direct registration link for the Unified Science professional learning experience.
Time Required: ~ 3 hours (This allows for a period of reflection and testing out the 2 presented activities.)
There are several other professional development opportunities available for grade bands K - 12 related to STEM, Inquiry Based Teaching, Problem Centered Learning and Competency Driven Instruction.
