ChemEd X ChemBasics Talk - Gas Laws

Gas Laws are an essential and easily accessible area of chemistry to understand. They can be an excellent foothold into the inner workings of chemistry. In this ChemBasics Talk, Daniel Radoff will be arguing for moving a discussion of gas laws earlier in the school year. He will suggest ways to introduce gas laws earlier and reasons they can and should be incorporated earlier in the educational process. In addition, he will provide some labs, handouts, demos, and other ideas for ways of teaching this engaging subject. Breakout rooms and a closing discussion will provide opportunities to collaborate to develop new classroom ideas as well. Join us! Register for this (FREE) hour long Zoom meeting to be held December 9th at 8pm EST.

Daniel grew up in Tennessee, went to Miami University for college, Columbia University for his doctorate in Biochemistry, and worked at Weill Cornell Medical College as a postdoctoral researcher before joining the faculty of Saint Ann’s School in Brooklyn in 2014. He also is an adjunct professor at New York University, The Cooper Union, and New Jersey Institute of Technology. He and his husband live in Newark, NJ. 

ChemEd X ChemBasics Talks are Zoom meetings consisting of 20 - 30 minute presentations, followed by breakout rooms designed to dig deeper into the topics covered and allow participants to share their own ideas. When the breakout sessions end, the group will have a time for reflections and final thoughts. Teachers are asked to keep their video on when possible, ask questions and participate in the discussion. These live Zoom events are free, but registration is required. Space is limited to 100, so register early! Certificates of attendance are sent to participants about one week after the event. (Note: Please do not register if you cannot attend the live event. The recordings are typically published within a week of the event and freely available to anyone on ChemEd X.)
