Town Hall Conference Call

Four TownHall Conference Calls per year are scheduled for leaders in the STEM community. The objective of these calls is to convene thought leaders, key voices from across the stakeholder community to present perspectives from industry, government, education and non-profits working on these issues.

Great Lakes Bioenergy Educational Programs

The Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center offers educational programs for teachers and students. Teachers may apply for a 7-week bioenergy research opportunity in which they also develop curriculum to bring back to their classrooms. The programs runs from June 22 - Auust 7 and offers a $7000 stipend. Deadline to apply March 20, 2015.

So You Think You Can Demo

“So You Think You Can Demo” is a fun and educational contest sponsored by ChemEd committee members to allow chemical educators to have a platform to share their best hands-on science demonstrations. We encourage all ChemEd 2015 attendees to submit a video showing off your most creative, informative and interesting chemistry demo. The deadline for submission of a demo video is April 30th.

Beyond Benign Summer Training

Explore the green chemistry resources provided by Beyond Benign. This course is taken completely online. Go at your own pace.  Meet other interested virtually and engage in insightful discussions. You will be pleasantly surprised by the available resources that you can explore and fit into your curriculum. Earn professional development credit. Optional graduate credits are available.

 

So You Think You Can Demo Video Archive

The “So You Think You Can Demo” contest made it’s first appearance on the ChemEd agenda in 2013. According the the ChemEd 2013 website, organizers for the Waterloo event designed the contest to “encourage skilled educators to share their expertise, communication abilities and creativity with other educators and ultimately with students.” This page is dedicated to archiving the inspiration provided by these expert teacher demonstators.

International Writing Across the Curriculum Conference

How can our pedagogy broaden ideas of difference within and beyond the classroom to include social, cultural, linguistic, modal, and media differences, among others? Conference organizers welcome proposals that explore ways in which Writing Across the Curriculum can promote a dialogue on difference and inclusivity and encourage representatives of different populations to offer their multiple voices and perspectives on Writing Across the Curriculum today.
