As our Gas Laws unit was coming to an end, it was time to create the test. As I thought of potential test questions that were both challenging and in alignment with the learning objectives we had previously identified for the unit, I was reminded of a multiple-choice question I had been shown in an old Modeling InstructionTM resource.
The new AP Chemistry Curriculum and the NGSS both focus on developing deep conceptual understanding. In order to achieve this, teachers must identify the objectives they need to teach to and stockpile a good assortment of conceptual questions for formative and summative assessments to support those objectives.
NGSS and the new AP chemistry curriculum have included modelling in the chemistry curriculum, so it is imperative that we have access to good conceptual questions surrounding modelling. I am in the midst of researching the best sources of these types of questions and resources that will help teachers to design their own. If you have any suggestions, please post them here.
