Assessing for Change in Chemical Thinking (ACCT) is seeking three facilitators willing to offer high school chemistry teachers a 10 session Assessing for Change in Chemical Thinking Course in SY21-22. Course materials will be provided through ChemEd X. Upon completion of the course, stipends will be provided to facilitators and up to 10 participants. What do I need to do to participate? 

Facilitator Requirements/Commitments 

  • Experience teaching High School Chemistry and facilitating professional development
  • Access to a chemistry lab for one session (preferred
  • Recruit high school chemistry teachers to participate in program
  • Plan and implement ACCT professional development program, using provided facilitation materials, 10 sessions of approx. 3 hours each between November 2021 and April 2022 
  • Complete and submit brief electronic logs of all session activities
  • Video- and audio-record sessions, and upload session recordings using provided Swivl camera kit 
  • Potentially host project evaluation staff during some sessions either virtually or in-person, depending on how these are held 
  • Participate in a one-hour interview in spring 2022 with program evaluators 

Participant Requirements/Commitments 

  • Teach at least one section of high school chemistry 
  • Attend 10 program sessions, approx. 3 hours each, between November 2021 and April 2022 
  • Complete some short assignments between sessions, including videotaping in own classes
  • Complete occasional surveys as part of program evaluation
