As a STEM master teacher in the Long Island region, I present at local, state and national conferences. I enjoy the opportunity to work to facilitate in my classroom and see the benefit it offers and then be able to turnkey and share with other teachers. I utilize a flipped classroom and enjoy the students first trying to engage in the model prior to watching a video or lecture component to add or extend beyond the POGIL.

This year was so atypical for most educators; teaching in different formats, some face to face, some hybrid, some completely virtual. My school typically offers honors, a regular level, and a more supported level chemistry track for students. Due to the constraints of scheduling in a Covid climate, this past year students were all grouped in one class.

This year so many in-person events at school have not been able to happen due to COVID restrictions. One activity that my science honor society students have enjoyed greatly is the Skype with a Scientist Live sessions. Students register in advance and then have the opportunity to be face to face with a scientist.
