With COVID creating the need for many virtual conferences over the last year and a half, this upcoming summer may provide the opportunity for teachers to return to face-to-face events. If you are a teacher looking for funding to attend a conference, please read about two opportunities below.
Interested in Chemical Education? Did you know that the Division of Chemical Education of the American Chemical Society funds Travel Awards each year?
DivCHED Travel Award, September 15, 2021
DivCHED provides this service to members to grant financial support for travel to meetings. Up to 12 members will receive the award each year. The DivCHED Travel Award provides up to 80% of travel expenses for one meeting with a limit of $1,000 for the Spring National ACS Meeting. To be considered for this award, you must be in at least your third year as a member of the Division of Chemical Education at the time of application.
DivCHED International Travel Award, November 30, 2021
Want to attend an international conference? The Chemical Education International Travel Award is in support of a DivCHED member who presents and fully participates in an international chemical education conference held outside the U.S. This is a great opportunity to travel abroad to present your results and to network with international colleagues. The awardee will have the responsibility to communicate information and insights gained at the conference to the membership through available DivCHED publications and by postings on the DivCHED website. The applicant must be a member of the Division of Chemical Education and be a full-time college, university, or high school faculty member. Preference will be given to junior and/or under-represented faculty members who have not had the opportunity to attend an international meeting in chemical education. The application package is due November 30 each year. The award, presently up to $2000.00, is made for the following year. CHED-IAC members serving on the Awards sub-committee appointed by the CHED-IAC Chair will review the applications. The selected applicant will be announced by January 15 each year. An alternate will be selected in case the original awardee is not able to attend. If interested, visit https://www.divched.org/award/
