I have been teaching some level of science since my undergrad years at Arizona State in 2002. After working as a T.A. for general and orgainic chemistry as part of my undergrad, I began my full time teaching career at Chandler High School in 2004. While at Chandler High, I was fortunate enough to experience teaching all levels of physics (core, advanced placement/international baccalaureate) and all levels of chemistry (core, honors, advanced placement/international baccalaureate, and dual-enrollment). While at CHS, I worked as part of a team to develop and refine the honors chemistry curriculum using the Modeling Method of Chemistry instruction. I also adapted the Modeling pedagogy for my upper level AP/IB and dual-enrollment chemistry course, with great student success. My involvement with dual-enrollment and workshops at Chandler-Gilbert Community college eventually led to working as an adjunct at Scottsdale Community Colleges on Saturdays and in the Fall of 2013 I joined the staff at Scottsdale Community College full time as Residential Faculty. My goal is to continue to improve and adapt the Modeling pedagogy for instruction at the college level, including promoting active engagement, scientific literacy, and critical thinking skills.
