Jon is formerly the Editor-in-Chief of Chemical Education Xchange (www.chemedx.org). He is an honorary associate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Jon worked for many years for the Journal serving as its Managing Editor and the Editor of JCE Online and JCE Software. Jon is a web developer and software programmer with degree in chemistry and has combined his skills and training to support those teaching and learning chemistry.

As 2025 comes to a close, I am stepping down from my role as Editor-in-Chief of Chemical Education Xchange (ChemEd X). It has been a privilege to serve this community, and the experience has been both professionally meaningful and personally rewarding. IMHO, chemistry is the most difficult subject to teach.

I am certainly wedded to the idea that technology applied correctly can have a signfiicant impact on student learning. In an essay on evolving ideas about technology and education, Alexandra W. Logue reminds us that the ideas behind some current trends on using technology to 'flip' the classroom are anything but new.
