Safety

IMAGE. Care must be taken when injecting a sample into a gas chromatograph.

The injection port is very hot. Do not touch the injection port.

When inserting the syringe into the injection port, the plunger of the syringe may quickly and dangerously pop out of the syringe because of the back-pressure from the chromatograph. Thus, you should position your hand or finger over the plunger to prevent the piston from popping out.
