check Identify two different things that could be done in another experiment to produce a better chromatogram than the one shown below.

Answer

Video. Reducing the size of the peaks.

The peaks in the chromatogram are too large. Two new experiments could be performed on the same sample to attempt to reduce the peak size. First, reduce the injection volume. If reducing the volume does not cause the peak height to remain on the paper, then a second experiment can be performed where the full scale deflection (the input voltage) is increased. Remember, the higher the input voltage, the smaller the peak.

check The chromatogram below was recorded. What could be done to improve the appearance of this chromatogram?

Answer

Video. Separating peaks by changing the chart speed.

The peaks in the chromatogram are too close together. If the peaks are too close together or too spread out, adjust the tracking speed. A higher setting will cause the paper to scroll through the recorder faster, causing the peaks to be farther apart (but the peaks will be broader).
