Light as a Wave: Reflection, Diffraction, Polarization, Scattering, and Absorption

Reflection of Light The angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection.
Diffraction of Light Diffraction of red and green light by patterns on a diffraction plate is shown. You can use the ruler in the background of each slide showing diffraction by a particular pattern to verify that in each case red light is diffracted more than green light.
Polarization of Light The effect of crossed and uncrossed polarizers on a light beam is demonstrated.
Scattering and Absorption of Light The effects of passing light through a colloidal suspension of milk in water and through a solution of copper sulfate are shown.

The following demonstrations illustrate reflection, diffraction, polarization, scattering, and absorption of light.
