Muriatic acid is hydrochloric acid, or hydrogen chloride dissolved
in water. This is the same acid present in the human stomach,
and it is used for cleaning oxide scale from the surface of steel,
to neutralize bases in effluents from chemical plants, and in
chrome tanning.
