Beat Frequency

The beat frequency depends on the frequency difference between the tuning forks.

Discussion

Beats are produced by unmatched resonance boxes. Here the clamp is positioned near the top of the tuning fork arm, which lowers the resonant frequency of the tuning fork significantly. With a relatively large frequency difference between the two tuning forks, the beat frequency is high.
