I have been teaching Chemistry now for almost thirty years.  My goal has always been to teach 35 years once instead of one year 35 times. I have been at Sycamore High School in Cincinnati for the last twenty plus years teaching honors and academic chemistry.  My goal is to always make it hands on and minds on and to say that I hopefully help at least one person every day.

I have done many professional development programs throughout the years.  Currently I have done a massively deep dive into standards based grading which has really changed for the better the culture of my classroom.  My hope is to bring a passion, love and curiosity for learning to students of every ability level and to help teachers whenever possible.

Acid base chemistry is always a popular topic. The struggle with this topic is that there is always so much a teacher can demonstrate. Demonstrations are great but it is tough at the end of the year when students are tired and time is precious. I did a couple of these demonstrations that students seemed to enjoy. I like these demonst

One of my goals for my chemistry classes at the beginning of the year is to start with an engaging activity that is hands on and minds on. I hope for an activity that will meet the kids where they are at. I try for an activity that will not only engage them but try to set the tone for the year. I think I may have stumbled upon something t
