Wave Behavior - Barrier with Hole

A narrow opening in a barrier acts as a point source. Here waves encounter a barrier with a narrow opening. The part of the wave that passes through the opening is diffracted into near-circular form.

As the wave frequency is increased, the extent of diffraction is reduced. Diffraction essentially vanishes at high frequencies. This effect is best seen by comparing images from the beginning and middle of the movie with those near the end.
