Discussion When the slit is properly aligned, examine the spectrum through the spectroscope. When recording several spectra, take all measurements at approximately the same angle and distance from each light source. When using a spectroscope, eliminate as much external light as possible so that the only light entering the instrument comes from the light source being examined. Narrative Light enters the spectroscope through the slit. As you look through the eyepiece. Do not look straight ahead at the slit but off to the side. Note that there is a series of grid marks to help you identify wavelengths in nm. |
