Binding Protein to Coomassie Blue

Coomassie blue binds to proteins forming a blue color. As more protein is added, the solution becomes a deeper blue color.

Voiceover
Acidic coomassie blue solutions are brown. Upon addition of a protein solution, the dye binds to the protein and changes the color of the solution. The amount of color change is dependent on the concentration of the added protein. The more protein that is added, the deeper the blue color.
