Constructing a Rod Climbing Apparatus

Voiceover
To use this apparatus, reinsert the support into the base. Set the liquid of rod climbing liquid into place, and insert the stirrer into the liquid. Attach the stiller to the support by inserting the open end of the one and one half inch piece into the open end of the support T. Stir the liquid and observe it climbing the rod.

Discussion
This is from the videotape "ICE Devices". The recipe used for this demonstration was a mixture of thymol, ethanol, water, and polyethylene oxide (-CH2-CH2-O-)n stirred for two days.
