Narrative
A solution of 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine is added to each of three test tubes containing 2-propanol, 2-propanone (acetone), and propionic acid. An orange precipitate forms with the 2-propanone indicating the presence of an aldehyde or ketone functional group.
