| Addition of Bisulfite to Cyclohexanone |

Aldehydes and unhindered ketones add bisulfite to form water insoluble addition compounds. Cyclohexanone is shaken with an aqueous solution of sodium bisulfite. After 30 seconds the mixture solidifies as the bisulfite adduct forms.
