Narrative
A Fischer projection is often used to show the configuration of carbohydrates and amino acids. To draw the Fisher projection of D-glyceraldehyde orient the carbon chain vertically and trace the outline of the atoms using horizontal lines for substituents. Then label the substituents appropriately.
