Polarized Light and Organic Molecules - Sucrose

Sucrose solution is shown to rotate the plane of polarized light and is compared to water which does not rotate the plane of polarized light.

Narrative
Beakers of water and sucrose solution are placed between two polarizing filters. When one filter is rotated, the water is shown not to rotate the plane of polarized light. The sucrose solution does rotate polarized light and displays different colors as the filter is rotated.
