Volume 3 JCE SoftwareSpecial Issue 23, Chemistry Comes Alive!, Volume 3, is the third in a series of CD-ROMs for Macintosh and Windows computers. Chemistry truly does come to life through this collection of pictures, animations, and movies depicting chemical reactions.
As you should see by now, Chemistry Comes Aive! is like a World Wide Web (WWW) site,except that it resides on this CD-ROM. Use it as you would any WWW site... explore!
Hardware and Software Requirements
Hardware and software requirements for Chemistry Comes Alive! are given in the table below. Be sure your system meets these requirements before proceeding to install and run any of the programs in this issue.

Hard disk800 x 600, thousands of colors or greater graphics System 7.6.1 or later Netscape Navigator 4.0 or higher or Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher, QuickTime 3 or higher Internet connection (optional) Before using Chemistry Comes Alive! you must have installed either Netscape Navigator 4.0 or higher or Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher and QuickTime 3 or later. The latest version of these components are available freely on the World Wide Web (WWW). Go to the download page.
Note: Windows 98/95 users who also use Chemistry Comes Alive! Volumes 1 and 2, should use QuickTime 4. QuickTime 3 is incompatible with the video on Volumes 1 and 2. QuickTime 4 for Windows is compatible with all three Chemistry Comes Alive! volumes. Both QuickTime 3 and 4 for Mac OS are compatible with all three Chemistry Comes Alive! volumes.
QuickTime 4 is available on the Chemistry Comes Alive! CD-ROM. To install QuickTime 4:
Windows
- Open the Windows folder inside the Installation folder of the Chemistry Comes Alive! CD.
- Double click the QuickTimeInstaller.exe icon and follow the directions on the screen.
Macintosh
- Open the Macintosh folder inside the Installation folder of the Chemistry Comes Alive! CD.
- Double click the QuickTime Installer icon and follow the directions on the screen.
