sodium sulfide and lead(II) nitrate


Adding colorless sodium sulfide to colorless lead(II) nitrate produces a dark brown precipitate.

Solution A: 0.1 M sodium sulfide (colorless)
Solution B: 0.2 M lead(II) nitrate (colorless)
Precipitate: (dark brown)
Pb(NO3)2(aq) + Na2S(aq) --> PbS(s) + 2 NaNO3(aq)
